Secondary School Catchment Areas in Jersey: How It Works

Secondary School Catchment Areas in Jersey: How It Works

If schooling is influencing your move in Jersey, it helps to understand how the system is structured.

In Jersey, most children attend a States primary school, and secondary school places are then allocated centrally by the Government of Jersey. For the four main 11–16 States secondary schools, admissions are linked to affiliated (feeder) primary schools.

That means your child’s primary school is a key factor in determining which secondary school they are likely to attend.

It’s important to note that allocations are made under the Government’s published admissions policy. While feeder links are significant, placements are not simply automatic transfers — they are formally allocated through the admissions process.

Private schools and States fee-paying schools operate their own admissions arrangements and are not part of the catchment system outlined below.
